this was obviously old, and as the vise mounts anywhere, i was able to attach it easily to a table AWAY from everyone else. so, summary - this is an excellent light duty vise. first use was to hold a cookoo (sp) clock while i was repairing the ballasts. the vise left no marks afterwards due to its pressure adjustment handle, as this is a wooden clock.
With all the adjustments, most any job is possible. This is the most versatile vise I have ever owned. Would recommend this vise to ANY handyman or hobbiest john hammond
People who have used Dremels appreciate this because they know the high speeds of the Dremel can cause a lot of heat rather quickly. While I find this to be a fault, it is one that you can work around. Obviously, the fix for this is do not continue working on the material when it gets too hot. Ordinarily that is OK except when the materials you are working on heat up and leave an impression on the two grips. I have used mine many times. This multi-position vice is really a benefit when you need a third hand. I would rate it with 5 stars except for the two gripping parts which hold the material steady are made of a strong plastic. A better fix would be for Dremel to include a metal gripping surface that is insulated from the plastic grip so heat will not be transferred to other plastic parts of the vise.
No comparison. Panavise has dozens of accessory attachments, it's all metal and a variety of base options.
For light work its great and very easy to work with during projects. As discussed its not for super heavy duty work where you need a metal vise. I wasn't expecting too much from the reviews and knowing this is all plastic. You can put the vise in differently than the photo shows allowing your to quickly remove it from the bench or desk and take it to the drill press or wherever.
